A gaming technology solutions provider in Sydney is positioning itself to compete for new contract opportunities in national and international markets. The province, through Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), is supporting Tech Link International Entertainment Ltd. with a $1.5-million secured loan. “In the early stages of growth, supporting an innovative company like Tech Link helps position it to secure international opportunities,” said Economic and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Percy Paris today, Aug. 18. “Tech Link’s innovative technology and ability to compete globally is in line with the province’s jobsHere plan to grow the economy.” Tech Link’s focus is on its Gameplan product, called My-Play in Nova Scotia, a responsible gaming technology that can be integrated into existing video lottery terminals. Gameplan was developed in partnership with the Atlantic Lottery Corporation and Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, and equips players with tools to limit and control their gaming habits. The product provides the player with information on how much they’ve won and lost, and how much time played. It also provides tools that allow players to limit their ability to play by setting time or monetary limits. “Demand for Tech Link’s products, particularly our responsible gaming solution, is growing,” said John Xidos, CEO of Tech Link. “The financing from NSBI will allow us to continue our work to compete for contracts opening up in the Canadian market and internationally.” In March 2011, the provincial government released its 2011 Responsible Gaming Strategy which includes mandatory adoption of the My-Play system effective April 2012. “Tech Link is establishing its presence in market,” said Stephen Lund, president and CEO of NSBI. “The financing will position the company to capitalize on global trends in the industry.” Tech Link is a turnkey gaming technology solutions provider based in Sydney, where it employs 60 people.
