2014 real estate sales to trend up prices to level off CREB

Calgary real estate prices are expected to stabilize in 2014, but not lose ground on gains made in 2013.Ann-Marie Laurie, chief economist for the The Calgary Real Estate Board, said 2013 has been stronger than anyone expected in terms of sales and price growth.“Some of that was due to just strong fundamentals, so we saw strong migration growth; we had higher than expected levels of migration this year, as well as employment growth was stronger than expected,’ said Laurie.“To add to that, we had a very tight rental market, the floods, all of that actually pushed up demand a lot higher than expected this year.”Laurie predicts 2014 will find a more balanced market with easing supply pressure and slower growth in demand.Prices are expected to jump by just two and a half per cent. The CREB will release its full forecast for the year on January 15, 2014. 2014 real estate sales to trend up, prices to level off; CREB Forecast AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to TwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookShare to RedditRedditShare to 電子郵件Email by News Staff Posted Dec 10, 2013 12:21 pm MDT read more
