Verizon has iPhone domains ready for a launch

That’s why some moves that the carrier has made with iPhone-related domains has garnered some particular interest.Verizon Trademark Services is the holding arm for Verizon’s domains including verizon.com. It turns out that the holding arm also owns iphoneonverizon.com and iphoneforverizon.com. Verizon purchased the domains from Jim Benton of HolyShnikes.com back in November 2008. When initially reported by pocketnow.com it was believed that these were recent purchases hinting at the release of the Verizon iPhone.AdChoices广告Though the purchase of the domains don’t allude to any timing of a Verizon iPhone release, they do indicate that Verizon had their eyes on Apple’s phone going all the way back to 2008. That means the domain purchases occurred only a year after the iPhone was first launched on the AT&T network in 2007. The iPhone related domains are currently only going to link farms, but they will be a couple to keep an eye on since they will no doubt be converted to legitimate Verizon websites once a launch is imminent.Considering that “iPhone Verizon” is the second suggested search term on Google it makes sense for Verizon to not only stop with two domains, but to purchase additional Verizon iPhone related ones.
