Latvian carrier airBaltic has launched a series of new flights this month, embarking on a simultaneous expansion of domestic, regional and cross-continental routes.Regularly scheduled flights to Latvian city Ventspils were launched on April 11th, adding to domestic daily flights to Liepaya, while routes around the neighbouring Scandinavian region have also been boosted this week.Nonstop flights from its hub in Riga to Finnish city Kuopio are set for introduction on a thrice weekly basis, while Denmark’s second busiest airport at Billund will gain twice weekly Riga services, all complemented by new flights between the Latvian capital and Norwegian sea port Aalesund.Meanwhile the airline will also be expanding out of its Nordic base this spring and summer, launching flights to popular locations Nice and Venice starting this April.Commenting on the airline’s Scandinavian operations, airBaltic president and chief executive Bertolt Flick said: “Over the last several years airBaltic has worked very successfully in developing routes to capital cities.
